Two
Thousand Acres of Sky tells the story of single mum Abby
Wallace (played by Michelle Collins) from London who, desperate
to escape her inner city lifestyle, persuades her best friend
Kenny Marsh (Paul Kaye) to pretend to be her husband and accompany
her and her two children to Ronansay (the real village of Port Logan), a small Scottish village,
whose inhabitants advertised for a young family to take over
the local B&B and help keep their small school open.
After the success of the Second Series, a third and final series was commissioned by the BBC and the last episode ended with the death of one of the central characters Kenny.
For those who followed the series, the villages of Port Logan and Portpatrick where the programmes were filmed are popular holiday locations with the opportuinity to visit the "Pub" and also several other familar landmarks.
Two Thousand Acres of Sky was a Zenith Entertainment production for BBC Scotland. Commenting on the recommission, Barbara McKissack, head of drama for BBC Scotland says:
"Two Thousand Acres of Sky combines an attractive mix of humour and poignancy which we know is a popular combination with viewers."
