Aldi Plans for Stranraer
ALDI hope to open a new £2 million store in Stranraer by the end of next year. Bosses estimate 12 jobs will be created if the development goes ahead.
And they are currently in talks with planners and the community surrounding the proposed site off Belmont Road to tackle concerns over traffic.
Speaking to the Free Press this week, property director Mike Nelson said:
"We are putting a planning application together and anticipate lodging this within two to four weeks."
Any opening date will be dependant on that application having a smooth passage through official channels. But they are hopeful an open dialogue with residents and council officials will help to close the deal. Mr Nelson said:
"Our aspirations would be to open late 2007 or early 2008."
