Firework Prank Appeal
A Firework blew open a cast iron post box in Stranraer, splitting it into two and sending metal shards flying onto the street.
Luckily no one was injured but police are appealing for witnesses to the prank, which took place on London Road near the junction of Ladies Walk last Thursday evening.
The post box weighs around a stone and is made from half-inch thick cast iron. Detective Constable Craig Nicolson said:
"This is one of the most stupid and dangerous acts of vandalism I have seen in my time as a police officer.
"The firework has blown off two corners and split the front of the box in two.
"If anyone had been passing by when this happened they could have been seriously injured or even killed by the shards of metal flying off the box".
