Stranraer Veteran on BBC Documentary

A Stranraer veteran of the Malaya Emergency featured in a BBC Scotland documentary screened on Monday.

Albert Thomas from Stranraer, appeared in BBC Two's Return to the Forgotten War on Monday at 8pm.

Retired policeman Mr Thomas and BBC Scotland journalist Cameron Buttle joined the veterans as they toured their old camps and relived jungle ambushes where men would lay in silence for 18 days at a time waiting for contact with the terrorists.

The veterans of the 1st Battalion, The King's Own Scottish Borderers recently returned to where they fought in the jungles of Malaya during the emergency where more than five hundred British soldiers died.
