Household Cavalry Exercise Planned
AROUND 500 members of the Household Cavalry will take part in a major exercise in South-West Scotland next month.
Called Druid’s Dance, it will run from Thursday, 19th until Monday, 30th October and will include 200 vehicles including 50 light tracked reconnaissance vehicles.
Tactical deployment of ground troops will take place from the airfield at West Freugh into Castle Kennedy airfield, the Galloway Forest and areas north-east of Dalbeattie.
Blank ammunition will be used although it will be restricted to areas where permission to use it has been obtained, as will the deployment of troops and vehicles. Flying activity other than for liaison purposes is not expected.
