Waterfront Funding Secured

FUNDING for the first phase of the breakwater on Stranraer waterfront to clear the way for a marina has been secured.

The £1.3 million project was brought together through joint funding by European Funding, Scottish Enterprise and Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Members of the council’s Planning and Environment Committee have given the go ahead for £350,000 to match funding from Europe of £600,000 and from Scottish Enterprise of £350,000.

The work is expected to start next month but this will depend on tenders being returned by this week. The marina would cater for up to 250 boats.
