Currys to Close Shop
Currys electrical store in Stranraer is shutting up shop after more than twenty five years of trading.
The chain store's owner, DSG International, has decided to close the store in George Street on the 2nd June with the loss of five jobs.
Manager Keith Leslie, who has worked at the shop since leaving
school nineteen years ago, said the news confirmed staff fears
after Currys' owners signalled in January that it wanted to close its UK high street stores.
He said:
"It's going to be a shame considering it's been in Stranraer for twenty five years.
"My staff are going to be without a job, all of whom have bills to pay and some have mortgages.
"Because we are so far away from the main office, there has always been a family atmosphere among the staff and customers, and I think it will be greatly missed"
