Waterfront Office Development Plans
PLANS have been lodged for a £3.5 million luxury office development on Stranraer waterfront.
Behind the project is Stranraer businessman Billy Burns, who hopes to be able to make a start next year.
Running parallel with Harbour Street, the site takes in the old gasworks ground, Ulsterbus depot and the adjoining car parking area.
Mr Burns already owns a large part of the site - he bought the old gasworks land from the former Wigtown District Council.
Dumfries and Galloway Council own the car park and the Belfast-based bus company are owners of the maintenance depot, at one time part of McHarrie's garage.
Plans show the 30,000 square feet of offices being built on the old Stranraer gasworks site - work will be needed to remove contamination left over from that operation as highlighted during tests when the site was earmarked for a municipal swimming pool.
