Marina Plans for Portpatrick
Portpatrick Harbour owners have lodged plans with the council for a
70-berth marina at the popular South Rhins village.
The application by Portpatrick Harbour Limited details plans for
pontoons in the inner and outer harbour.
The design shows a 21-berth pontoon for the inner harbour, accessed
by a floating tide ramp, while the outer harbour would accommodate 50
craft on a larger pontoon.
Two car parks are proposed, one by the outer harbour quay and the
other behind the sea wall.
On the harbour arm an octagonal information and harbour office would
be built.
The Isle of Wight based firm made an initial application in March,
but it has taken a further five months to reapply for listed building
consent due administration delays on its part.
Planners will now write a report, refusing or recommending
permission, for planning committee councillors, who will then decide
at a meeting in September.
It is understood that the harbour company are also preparing to
submit a further application for a permanent boaters’ washing
facility and a bistro on the site of the fishermen’s buildings in the
inner harbour, next to the lifeboat hut.
