Academy Makes Progress
Stranraer Academy has made "significant progress" since receiving its damning verdict from school inspectors.
Last January HM Inspectorate of Education published a stinging report, primarily criticising academic standards and school leadership.
In October inspectors returned for a follow-up visit to see how much progress has been made. And on Tuesday they published a report, this time praising the school on progress it has made in key areas.
Joanna Pallet, Head Teacher and Education Manager, said:
"The progress we have made in the last twelve months is beyond expectation.
"And I'm very pleased that the hard work of staff and pupils has been recognised.
"It is significant to have made so much progress and this stage and it shows we are well on the way on our journey that will take the school forward."
Although the school inspectors called for more PE and religious education, the reports author, District Inspector Lachlan MacCallum stated leadership in the school had improved since the appointment of Joanna Pallet.
