Lisbon Lions sign shirt for Stranraer man
Stranraer man Jimmy Marshall is the proud possessor of a Celtic shirt
signed by the eight remaining Lisbon Lions.
And he has to thank his grandson, Formula One race ace David Coulthard.
For Jimmy, who lives in Parklea Gardens, Stranraer, was over in
Donegal for a family celebration.
His daughter and David’s mother Joyce had been whisked off by
helicopter with family members from her home at Twynholm to the
Rosapenna Hotel in Carrigart, Donegal, as a surprise 60th birthday gift.
And it so happened that the Celtic European Cup winning veterans were
also there to play in a golf tournament as part of the celebrations
to mark the 40th anniversary of their cup win.
Jimmy got on the chat with Patrick Sweeney, a member of the committee
which organised the golfing event and happened to mention David
Coulthard was his grandson.
That piece of news went down a treat and Jimmy was asked if he could
get David to meet some of the Lisbon Lions.
No sooner said than done. David was happy to oblige.
The meeting was set up, a photographer produced and Jimmy was
pictured collecting his autographed Celtic shirt as thanks for his
efforts.
