Marina Design Plans for Stranraer Harbour
A fifty berth marina design in Stranraer Harbour has been lodged with
council planners.
Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway want to build two sets of
yacht pontoons off the Breastwork and the West Pier as part of the
town's waterfront redevelopment.
Marie Findlay, of Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway, said
together with the council it plans to build a marina facility which
aims to attract private investment in the Waterfront Project.
She said:
"We are presently putting in the ground work to make
facilities available that will attract private investment.
"Marinas like the one in Kirkcudbright are currently over subscribed
and people are on waiting lists to find residential berths for their
yachts.
"Water sports are popular than ever, and with speed restrictions on
Lake Windermere there's great potential for Loch Ryan."
