Stranraer Drama Wins Award

STRANRAER Drama Club's Emma Akiens has won the Scott Salver for her one-act play Principal Girls.

The 26-year-old wrote the play for the club's female cast members to take part in the Wigtown District Festival.

Her piece beat 17 other plays for the top title awarded by the Scottish Community Drama Association.

The last time a winner came from Wigtownshire was seven years ago when Frances Henderson won the title with Newton Stewart players.
