Student Cooks Up A First
ANNETTE Bradley has created catering history at the Stranraer Campus
of Dumfries and Galloway College.
She is the first person to achieve the Adult Modern Apprenticeship
programme in Advanced Craft, Food Preparation and Cooking.
Annette’s studies have taken her through SVQ level three Food
Preparation and Cooking, REHIS elementary Food Hygiene, Numeracy,
communications and information technology units, plus customer care
training over three years.
She did much of the work in her own time, with some of it on a day
release basis from her employment at Dalrymple Hospital.
Annette was presented with her certificates and completion bonus
cheque by Billy Bentley of Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway,
sponsors of the Modern Apprenticeship programme.
He said: “There is a misconception that the Modern Apprenticeship
programme is only open to school leavers. However this is an ideal
way to improve and update your skills and Annette is a good example”.
John Govan, Programme manager at Dumfries and Galloway College said:
“We are very proud of Annette’s achievement. She has worked hard for
three years to complete the programme. It took a lot of determination
and will to succeed, having to manage her studies around her work and
her family commitments”.
