School Wins Careers Award
REPHAD Primary has been named as one Scotland’s most career-minded
schools.
For the Stranraer primary scooped Excellence in Career Education
Award 2007 recognising their work last term promoting the world of
work to pupils.
Career Scotland awarded the school the award for its projects that
prepared children for the world of work.
Teacher Moira Baird said: “We were given the award because they felt
we had embraced everything Careers Scotland want to make a workforce
of the future.
“The children were heavily involved at every level with the various
projects and were fantastic.”
During the last school year members of staff visited various
industries, reporting back to pupils by holding presentations.
While pupils were trained-up in the different careers open to them in
the future.
And the children were encouraged to think out of the box while
getting inventive by designing working models of eco-friendly
vehicles — which were so good they brought them to the regional
finals of the award.
