Waterfront Development Exhibition
STRANRAER Library is playing host to a public exhibition on possible
proposals for the Waterfront development.
Included are architectural drawings of possible layouts for the
waterfront and the public are being asked for their views on the
proposals.
In addition, copies of the development framework which outline the
vision to develop Stranraer as a distinctive and successful marine
leisure destination are available to take away.
Colin Bell, from Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway and
project manager for Stranraer Waterfront, said: “The development of
Stranraer Waterfront is a long-term project, but with real long-
term sustainable benefits for Stranraer, the region and the rest of
Scotland.
“And because it is a long-term project it easy to forget how far we
have progressed since the project began”.
Work achieved by partners includes:
- completing the dredging of the harbour
- removal of the Seacat piles
- on-going public consultation
- launch of the development framework and
- design and construction of the new breakwater, started May in and
due to be complete in the autumn.
