Fire Safety Laws put B&Bs Under Threat
DOZENS of bed and breakfasts in Wigtownshire face the
threat of closure under strict new regulations.
Legislation concerning fire safety guidelines in small
premises is proving so costly that many B&B owners
may have no choice but to close their doors for good.
Under the new guidelines, any premises which rents out
accommodation will have to undergo an inspection by a fire
safety officer, who may then force the owner to install
fire proof doors and hard-wired smoke alarms in every room.
