Police back funding request for Wardens

POLICE officers have joined a Stranraer councillor in his support of community wardens as they wait to find out if money is available to keep the scheme running.

Willie Scobie said the funding previously set-aside for the wardens was no longer available.

Now they will go to the council to try to secure money, unsure of how much will be available.

Mr Scobie told Ochtrelure and Belmont Community Council about the funding crisis and asked for them to back the community wardens.

He said the wardens were doing a good job and provided an important link between the community and the police.
