BT look to cut off more phone boxes
COMMUNITY Councils are questioning the removal of four telephone boxes without consultation in Wigtownshire.
The phones are to be taken without any debate with the public or Dumfries and Galloway Council.
The telephone boxes at Crofthill Road, Glenluce; South Strand Street, Stranraer; North Crescent, Portpatrick; and The Park, Whithorn will be removed because there is another telephone box within 400 metres.
This comes a month after 16 telephone boxes were proposed for closure by BT.
No decision has been made on these boxes as public consultation continues but community councillors have asked why the new boxes were not on the list.
