Row Over Crime Fighting Budget
CALLS have been made for a Tory councillor to resign after he allowed almost £450,000 to be slashed from Dumfries and Galloway's crime-fighting budget.
Extra tuition for young drivers, working with youngsters to cut anti-social behaviour and trying to reduce drugs and alcohol abuse are all now expected to be chopped.
Tory councillors backed a move to take the money from the Community Safety Partnership budget and return it to that of the full council.
