Councillors dispute £20k casino consultant fee
COUNCILLORS have thrown out a recommendation to spend £20,000 on consultants to gauge the level of public support for a proposed casino on Stranraer Waterfront rather than holding a Wigtownshire-wide referendum on the issue.
The recommendation was contained in a report on the progress of the Waterfront Project presented to Wigtown Area Committee by Dumfries and Galloway Council's Group Manager for Economic Regeneration Tony Fitzpatrick.
But several councillors questioned spending £20,000 on consultants' fees rather than holding a referendum.
