Teachers put in £1M Sick Bill
TEACHER sick days have cost the region more than £1 million this year.
The cost of hiring supply teachers to fill in for absent permanent staff has left Dumfries and Galloway Council looking for ways to save money.
Nearly 600 secondary school teachers had at least one day of sickness absence in the last year, with a total of 10,397 recorded incidences.
