Public backlash on Care Centre cut plans

A PUBLIC backlash has started over possible plans to close care centres in Stranraer and Newton Stewart for adults with learning difficulties.

The town's Activity and Resource Centres (ARCs) could be at risk if proposed local authority savings get the go-ahead.

A proposal to shut four out of six ARCs in the region was mooted last week.

And a council prediction that the move could be "controversial" appears to be becoming true.
