150-bed
hotel planned near Leswalt
A 150-BED,
Four Star Hotel, golfers' cottages and leisure facilities
are planned for a complex near Leswalt.
As the 'Free
Press' revealed last week, local farmer Bertie McClung is
seeking planning consent for a holiday complex on a 14.5 acre
site at Creachmore Croft, on the east side of the main Stranraer
to Leswalt road near Craigencrosh roundabout.
Architects acting
for Mr McClung have already been in touch with planning officials
in Stranraer.
If he succeeds
in getting outline consent to develop the site, Mr McClung
will try to interest Scottish-based hotel and leisure companies
in taking over and developing the project.
In the meantime,
architects will carry out a detailed feasibility study, investment
appraisal and business plan into the scheme.
These will be
based in a 150-bed four star hotel, golfers' cottages and
conference/banqueting facilities.
Leisure pursuits
will be catered for by a swimming pool, fitness suite, health
spa, specialist rose/Japanese garden and equestrian centre
with a two or three mile riding track.
The complex
would also plan to have recreational links with the adjoining
Stranraer Golf Club, Soleburn Garden Centre which is bearby,
a boating facility on Lochryan and an open farm or agricultural
museum.
