P&O
Boost to Cairnryan
P&O HAVE delivered
another massive boost to their Cairnryan to Larne route. They
have ordered a second £35 million fast conventional ferry
from a Japanese yard – a sister ship to the European Causeway
which came into service earlier this year.
She is due on
the route in May 2002, bringing the total P&O fleet locally
to six. That has boosted the company’s investment on the North
Channel to £85 million in the past 18 months And to reinforce
that message, P&O Ferries Chairman Graeme Dunlop said:
"Larne to
Cairnryan is one of P&Os key Irish Sea routes".
And he added
"We have already
invested more than £50 million in this route over the past
18 months and we are demonstrating our commitment by ordering
another fast conventional ferry to replace older tonnage."
