Write A Song For The Millennium
As a finale for the Stranraer McDonald’s Our Town Story production,
the Steering Committee are looking for an original song composed
by someone in the area, to be sung at the Millennium Dome
by the complete cast of 80 people, accompanied by ten Roadshow
musicians, while images are projected on a 5m X 7m backdrop.
The Project Director lain Clark has produced the following
guidelines:
-
Something lively, incorporating the theme of Arrivals
and Departures
-
Up to three verses, with or without a chorus
-
Send the words and music if you write both or just the lyrics
if you wish
-
The closing date is Monday 10 January, 2000
Three distinguished local musicians, Eric Wilson, Jane Sloan
and Ian Munro have consented to be the judges and they will
add music or make arrangements if that is required. The entry
date has been set to allow you to bring millennium inspiration
to the composition and to encourage group participation at
your New Year gatherings.
Imagine! You could be No.l at the Dome in May next year.
Entries should be submitted to:
Billy Mitchell, Small Towns Initiative, Maxwell House, 32
Charlotte Street, Stranraer DG9 7EF or email to billy.mitchell@scotent.co.uk
For further information, phone Iain Clark on 01776 704609.
GOOD LUCK!
