A75
Policing
DUMFRIES and Galloway police have responded to claims that
they adopt "Gestapo-like" tactics against users of the A75
Euro-route.
Chief
Superintendent Bob Ovens, the Force head of operations told
the 'Free Press" this week:
"I
would suggest that anyone who expresses a wish to see a
reduction in police activity in this field need only speak
to someone who has faced the reality of a collision.
"When
they appreciate the impact which injury or the loss of a
friend or family member can have on individuals or family,
they will perhaps better understand our determination to
police our roads effectively".
Dunragit
firm Aprilia claim they will have to consider moving their
operation elsewhere - with the loss of 40 jobs - because of
what they claim is over-conscientious policing of the road.
