and businesses were flooded, as well over an inch of
rain fell inside an hour and roads were blocked. The
total rainfall was recorded at just over 30 millimetres.
Yet just a handful of miles outside the town, no rain
fell at all - at the Defence Evaluation and Research
Agency base at West Freugh only 1.9 millimetres of rainfall
was recorded in the 24 hours to Thursday morning.
