New Piano
for Stranraer Academy
STRANRAER Academy
music department now has a new digital piano. And principal
teacher of music Ian Munro describes it as "the most fantastic
resource to come into the music department for a long time".
At the flick
of a switch, the piano becomes a jazz organ, harpsichord,
strings, brass, saxophone and much more. And everything can
be recorded into a 3.5 inch disk which is extremely useful
for singers at Standard, Higher and Advanced Higher grades.
The instrument,
which cost around £1200 was provided by the school’s parent
teacher organisation. They rounded off a successful year by
presenting it to the music department and before their annual
general meeting, Mr Munro provided a demonstration of its
qualities.
He explained
that the piano, which is used by both staff and pupils, would
benefit every pupil in the school from composition work to
exams.
Retiring PTA
chairman Margaret Sheriffs said
"To witness
the piano in action has made all out efforts very worthwhile.
"Thanks to
everyone who supported our fundraising activities, we have
been able to buy this piano and carry forward a healthy
balance to this new term when we hope to fund another substantial
item for the pupils’ benefit".
