The decision by production company Zenith Entertainment has been welcomed by residents and tourism chiefs who see it as a chance to raise the profile of both the Rhins and South West Scotland.

The BBC Scotland drama '2000 Acres of Sky' featuring former Eastenders star Michelle Collins will have a 12 week long summer shoot.

Galloway MP Alasdair Morgan has written to the production company and offered any assistance that is required. He said

"This is excellent news and I am delighted that Zenith Entertainment feel that Portlogan is the perfect area for filming.

"The Rhins of Galloway can be very atmospheric which would appear to be just what the producers were looking for".
