Dramatic
Rescue in Stranraer ...
TWO HEROIC POLICEMEN
saved the life of a 19-year-old girl at the weekend, following
a dramatic rescue from a burning flat in Stranraer.
Both officers
and the girl were treated for smoke inhalation and all were
later released. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding
the blaze.
PCs Trevor Harrison
and Ross Williams were on patrol in the area early on Saturday
morning, when they were alerted to a fire at a ground floor
flat in Queens Street.
The officers
bravely fought past the flames and found a 19-year-old girl
collapsed inside. She was then carried to safety. The fire
was quickly extinguished by police before the Fire Service
arrived.
Police Superintendent
Alex Dickson said
"This young
woman had a very lucky escape, thanks to the vigilance of
a passing driver who noticed smoke coming from the premises
and alerted patrolling officers straight away.
"All the police
officers involved demonstrated great presence of mind and
commendable bravery in the public interest.
"We are sure
that the public in Stranraer are as proud of their local
officers as we are."
