Fight Over Skin Cancer
WIGTOWNSHIRE residents are being urged to join the fight over
growing concerns of skin cancer. Around 30 people suffer from
melanomas in Dumfries and Galloway each year. And, up to three
are dying from the treatable disease.
Now,
consultant dermatologist at the Royal Infirmary in Dumfries
Dr Jonathan Norris is holding melanoma screening days in both
Stranraer and Newton Stewart. Dr Norris told the 'Free Press'
this week
"We
are looking for people to take responsibility for their
own health".
The
screening will take place at the Garrick Hospital on Tuesday,
6th June, and at Newton Stewart Hospital on Thursday, 22nd
June. There will also be a clinic at Dumfries Royal Infirmary
on Monday, 5th June.
To
book an appointment, phone 01387 241 574 and ask for
Christine Proudfoot.
