Xmas Programme Announced

CHRISTMAS in Stranraer will be full of fun. Not only will there be spectacular new Christmas lights, but a Christmas events programme is planned that will put a new dimension into festive shopping in the town.

On every Saturday until 23rd December, Stranraer town centre will ring to the sound of Christmas music with the Creetown Silver Band, Jazz Pazz and Stranraer’s own Youth Band, all performing. When there is not live music there will be Christmas music from a sound system in the Castle of St John.

The events programme begins on Saturday with carols in Safeway car park, followed by a lantern procession through the streets to the Castle Green, where there will be children’s attractions and a Christmas light switch-on ceremony compered by West Sound’s popular Kevin Wallace.

Safeway, Stranraer, one of the major event sponsors, will be laying on hot chocolate and mincepies and roasted chestnuts to keep the cold at bay.
