Anti-Drugs March
PRESSURE GROUP Stranraer Against Drugs are to hold a second
anti-drugs march through the town on Saturday, 25th August.
They
want to build on the success of the previous protest which
drew a large crowd out onto the streets at the end of March.
This time, organisers hope that it will attract people from
all over the district.
As
the drug menace continues its spread into even the smallest
communities it is hoped that people from outlying towns and
villages will join in the protest too.
Speaking
to the "Free Press", a spokesman for Stranraer Against Drugs
said
"We
are confident that there will be an even larger turnout
than there was for the last march.
"Some people were not sure what to make of it the last time
and they were perhaps afraid of what would happen if they
were seen to be standing up to the dealers.
"The last march showed they have nothing to be afraid of
as the whole community pulled together.
"And people will be coming in from the country because the
drug problem is now reaching the smaller communities as
well".
The
plan is for a repetition of the previous protest, with marchers
gathering at The Breastwork in Stranraer near the old Seacat
terminal.
