Help for Addicts' Families

DESPAIRING families of local drug addicts will soon have somewhere to turn for help.

A new support group called "You Are Not Alone" will hold their first meeting in the Council Offices in Sun Street, Stranraer, on Thursday, 17th May.The meeting will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and organisers are urging those who need help to come along.

The organisers behind the scheme are the "Stranraer Against Drugs" group who were also responsible for organising last month’s successful anti-drugs march through Stranraer.

They aim to keep the momentum going against drugs and point to the family support group as the latest stage in their campaign. The "You Are Not Alone" name was suggested by a Stranraer mother who lost her son through drugs.

And organisers say that the group will be run by people who have been affected by drugs for people who have been affected .
