Boost
Plans are working
PLANS to boost Stranraer and The Rhins are working.
According
to an independent survey, businesses helped by the Stranraer,
Portpatrick and Cairnryan Small Towns Initiative Company report
"real improvements" in their organisational performance.
And
there is a perception that the local economy and environment
has improved as a result of the company’s activities.
Now
the Sti are moving on with schemes to attract more private
sector cash to find projects and provide support for inward
investment.
The
outcome of the evaluation was this week described as "a boost
for the area" by Sti manager Billy Mitchell.
He
told the "Free Press":
"It endorses what we have achieved to date but importantly
provides a clear direction on how we can improve further.
"I will be working with the directors and staff to ensure
that the Sti tackles the very real problems facing Stranraer
and Rhins".
