Canine
Travels
IAN AND Joyce Campbell thought they would never see their
Bearded Collie Chester again.
Terrified
by the thunder and lighting on Tuesday of last week, the dog
took off. And in spite of spending long hours searching high
and low, the couple, who live at Bendochy, Portpatrick, resigned
themselves to the fact he was gone for good.
On
Saturday came the call that put the smile back on their faces.
Eric McCaig, Port O’Spittal Farm, phoned them to say his son
Robert had found Chester alive and well in one of the fields.
Said
the couple:
"It
was really quite humbling to realise just how supportive
neighbours and fellow villagers can be when one is faced
with a dilemma such as we were.
"Some
may say it was just a dog but that does not detract from
the spontaneous generosity and genuine concern that was
shown. "The support we received from all our fellow residents
in Portpatrick and the various agencies that we contacted
was exceptional and we would like to thank them all most
sincerely".
And
Chester? He is just glad to be home again.
