Drug
Service in Media Spotlight
STRANRAER’S new drug service is set to be thrust into the
national media spotlight, with not one, but two high-profile
names being lined up to visit.
In
a double exclusive, the "Free Press" can reveal that both
the Scottish Health Minister and the Deputy Justice Minister
are set to make separate visits to Stranraer.
Their
arrival is being planned to allow them to see first-hand how
the new facility in the town’s George Street is shaping up.
Both
members of the Scottish Executive will be keen to see the
Stranraer Centre have a positive impact on the town’s drug
problem from their respective health and criminal justice
standpoints.
If all goes to plan, Health Minister Susan Deacon will arrive
in the town early on Monday, 6th August. Later in the day
she will visit Dumfries.
Iain Gray, the Deputy Justice Minister, is set to come to
town on Thursday, 30th August. As part of his visit he will
meet up with members of Stranraer’s Family Support Group who
were formed recently to help those directly affected by the
misery of drug abuse.
