Successful
Entrepreneurs at
Stranraer Academy
Richard Branson and the country’s leading entrepreneurs had
better watch out if the achievements of Stranraer Academy
pupils are anything to go by.
A
group of sixth year pupils at the school have just lifted
the Strathclyde and South-West Scotland title for the most
successful secondary school participating in the national
young enterprise scheme.
And now they are looking towards the national final next month,
where the judges will decide if they have what it takes to
be declared the best in Scotland.
Back in September, at the beginning of this school session,
they launched the "Blue Midgie" Company as part of the enterprise
scheme.
In
the seven months since, they have progressed to a full company
with two successful products on the market.
Sales
are booming and the eight pupils in the company have just
returned from a trip to Glasgow University where they collected
the Glenfiddich Centenary Quaich for best in the region.
