STRANRAER'S latest industrial venture

A 6000 square feet factory to make timber frame buildings, opens for business tomorrow (Friday).

And as Councillor Robert Higgins cuts a tape to officially declare the building open, work will be about to start on Galloway Timber Ltd's first order - a security building for Stena Line.

Behind the venture, in a former fish processing factory in at Black Parks Industrial Estate, are businessmen Alex Sloan and Derek Robison.

Initially there will be a workforce totalling seven, but the directors hope to expand that number quickly.

For nationally-known Jewson are to promote Galloway Timber products through their own retail and wholesale outlets, adding vast marketing potential for the Stranraer company.

A delighted Alex Sloan told the "Free Press" this week

" We are the first company in Scotland to tie in with them". Jewson will be promoting the product as a self-build package.
