STRANRAER'S
latest industrial venture
A 6000 square feet factory to make timber frame buildings,
opens for business tomorrow (Friday).
And
as Councillor Robert Higgins cuts a tape to officially declare
the building open, work will be about to start on Galloway
Timber Ltd's first order - a security building for Stena Line.
Behind
the venture, in a former fish processing factory in at Black
Parks Industrial Estate, are businessmen Alex Sloan and Derek
Robison.
Initially
there will be a workforce totalling seven, but the directors
hope to expand that number quickly.
For
nationally-known Jewson are to promote Galloway Timber products
through their own retail and wholesale outlets, adding vast
marketing potential for the Stranraer company.
A
delighted Alex Sloan told the "Free Press" this week
"
We are the first company in Scotland to tie in with them".
Jewson will be promoting the product as a self-build package.
