could become a major road-rail freight centre.
are presently looking at the cost of making the single track
line from Ayr to Stranraer suitable for carrying road trailers
on specially adapted rail wagons.
if they agree to fund the work which they find necessary,
the way could be opened for a major rail development connecting
Stranraer to the Continent as well as the rest of Britain.
are hopes that Railtrack's report into what is necessary will
be completed and available to interested parties some time
the cost has been established - and a timetable for the work
to be done worked out - efforts can then start to find customers.
such already under consideration is mail/parcels traffic between
Daventry in the English Midlands and Stranraer.

look for similar work from other hauliers.
