Funding
awarded for STI
STRANRAER, Cairnryan and Portpatrick are set for a boost with
the news that funding amounting to £375,000 has been awarded
to the Small Towns Initiative (STi).
And
now the STi – which was set-up to promote the three small
towns – will double its staff from two to four. In addition
to the existing manager and events officer, the STi will be
advertising the positions of senior financial and administrative
support worker and project officer based at Portpatrick.
The
total grant that the STi has received is made up of two separate
awards. The first is £250,000 from the Dumfries and Galloway
board of Scottish Enterprise.
This
money will be used to fund projects in the four main operational
areas of the STi, namely, business development, economic inclusion,
environmental enhancement and marketing and events.
The
second grant is an award of £125,000 from the European Regional
Development Fund (ERDF).
This
money awarded to the STi is part of a larger sum coming to
the South of Scotland as a whole.
