Gateway
opened
A
GATEWAY to Galloway north of Cairnryan has been opened.
The
refurbished lay-by and picnic area is now back in use following
extensive alterations.
It
marks the culmination of a joint effort by the Small Towns
Initiative, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Cairnryan Community
Council and the Lochryan Forum.
Funding
from Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway and the council
covered the cost of upgrading the site including landscaping,
planting, disabled toilets, parking for boat trailers, traffic
calming measures and a shelter.
Work
has still to be done to upgrade the existing slipway and the
community council are being helped to develop a lottery application
for funding to augment STI cash already committed to the upgrade.
