HEALTH
CARE facilities at the new £10 million Garrick complex
in Stranraer will match the best anywhere in Scotland, a top
regional health administrator said this week.
Dumfries
and Galloway National Health Service Board gave their unanimous
approval to the final business case for a £6.5 million
Garrick Mark II.
It
will be provided by using a refurbished Dalrymple Hospital
and will be built alongside the new Health Centre, now taking
shape on the old Waverley Hospital site; total cost of both
£10 million.
In
what was the first meeting of the Board in Stranraer on Monday
at which the "Free Press" was the only newspaper
present, David Fraser said the people of Stranraer were aware
of the need to replace the Garrick Hospital with a purpose-built
facility for the future.
They
wanted to make sure that the outcome for the public of Stranraer
was a facility to match the best anywhere in Scotland.
