Replacement
Hospital for Stranraer
WORK IS TO start next year on a replacement for the Garrick
Hospital in Stranraer.
Confirmation
of what the "Free Press" forecast two months ago came this
week when the Scottish Executive allocated £6 million to the
new development. It
will be located in Dalrymple Street and will incorporate the
existing Dalrymple Hospital.
Tuesday’s
announcement that the cash for the hospital has been included
in the Government’s three-year capital plan, is the culmination
of years of lobbying by local groups and people.
The
new hospital is expected to be open for business some time
during 2004.
