Work
on Hospital could begin next Year
WORK
ON the replacement for Stranraer’s Garrick Hospital could
begin as early as next year.
The
Scottish Executive have cleared the way for the project by
revealing that it will be funded out of the public purse.
With
the start in the next few days of a new £2.8 million Health
Centre on the site of the old Waverley House in Dalrymple
Street, the prospect of a new integrated health facility is
better than it has ever been.
When
completed, the project will offer major new services all under
one roof.
The
Health Centre, which will be three times the size of the existing
one, will provide modern facilities for the 17 doctors working
there as well as accommodation for nurses and other staff.
Dalrymple
Hospital, which was opened 25 years ago this year, will be
completely refurbished.
Rhinsdale
House will be bought from Dumfries and Galloway Council.
