Manchester United Signing

MANCHESTER UNITED have just made their latest signing — but she will not be joining the likes of David Beckham and Ryan Giggs on the pitch.

Instead, former Stranraer girl Janette Graham has joined the army of behind-the-scenes staff at the English footballing giants.

It is the latest move in a career which has seen her rise from dishwasher at The Arches restaurant in Stranraer to her present position of catering manager at the club’s Old Trafford stadium.

Janette (30) is in charge of catering in the ground’s gigantic north stand, the new structure across from the main stand.

Extending over eight levels, it has an astonishing 350 catering staff alone.

They work in and around 60 executive boxes and serve around 2500 meals every match day. And that is just the north stand!

Janette said

"The stadium as a whole holds 67,000 and we can cater for up to 4500 meals — not pies; full three-course meals.

In addition, we can order 15,000 to 17,000 pies per match as well — but they are not a patch on the ones you get a Stair Park!"
