Molyneux
raised Money for Charity
TOM MOLYNEUX swam a mile at the Ryan Centre pool in Stranraer
to raise money for the Sharon Davies Cancer Appeal.
Then
he added another five lengths for good measure and could have
gone further but he ran out of time.
Nothing
special about that, you say? Wait until you are 77 then give
it a go!
Tom,
a retired welder who lives at 25 Gallowhill Rise, Stranraer,
raised £125 for the charity in his swim, which meant a minimum
of 65 lengths.
His
70-length marathon lasted 90 minutes.
A
native of Lancashire, Tom has been swimming since he was eight
years old — when his brother threw him into the local canal.
He
moved to Stranraer after coming to the area to visit a sister
and found he liked it a lot.
He was a welder at West Freugh and a variety of other places,
including Sealink, his last job of 14 years, before he retired.
