New
Library for Sheuchan Primary School
Pupils at Sheuchan Primary School are a well-read bunch these
days.
They
are reaping the benefits of their sparkling new library which
was officially opened last Thursday evening.
And
it is no ordinary library either, as a range of CDs, videos
and cassettes – as well as over 1500 books – mean it truly
deserves its title of "multi-media library".
The
school received a further boost last week with the gift of
£300 worth of books from the Parent Teacher Association.
These
were presented by Jennifer Miller who served as head teacher
at Sheuchan for nine years.
Handing
the books over she said
"When I was here, our first priority was to get a roof on
the school! The next project was the nursery and then we
thought ‘we need a library’.
"There is no greater resource we can give the children than
books".
In
a further surprise presentation she unveiled a shield which
would be donated to the school as an annual prize for languages.
Jennifer
Miller praised the present acting head teacher Olive Currie,
who had "carried the dream of a library through to reality".
