Charity was Macmillan Cancer Relief
Tesco nationally announced that their charity of the year
2000 was to be Macmillan Cancer Relief, the staff at their
Stranraer branch embraced the charity with great enthusiasm
and over the year managed to raise an amazing £2400.
had pledged to give another 20 per cent over and above the
amount raised and which enabled staff at the Charlotte Street
supermarket to hand over a cheque for £2922 to David McMillan,
chairman of the Stranraer branch of the charity.
for Tesco fundraising Mrs Helen Rice, said the money was raised
by holding a sponsored walk; a Satur-day Sales Table on the
Castle Green; a 60s and 70s night and a raffle. She expressed
her sincere thanks to all staff and customers who had given
such enthusiastic support.
